Schools: Partners for the future MoSES,

October 6, 2008

The German Federal Foreign Office started in cooperation with the Goethe Institute and other educational institutions in the Federal Republic of Germany the initiative called "Schools: Partners for the Future", whose goal is developing a network of 1,000 partner schools throughout the world by 2010, in which the German language is intensively learnt. On one hand, the goal is to expand the network of German schools abroad, and of schools that are implementing the programme of the German language diploma, and on the other hand, to expand the basic network of schools in which the German language is taught as a foreign language.

The ultimate goal is to support multilingualism and enable access to the German language and education to the citizens of the countries of the Central and East Europe, of former Commonwealth of Independent States established after the dissolution of the USSR, of Middle East, Asia and the Persian Gulf, and thus create an international community gathered around education, the one that can deal with today's challenges.

A bid has been called for the Croatian high schools in which the German language is taught. It has been called by the Goethe Institute in Zagreb in cooperation with the German Embassy in the Republic of Croatia, and the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports will participate in the process of selecting the schools. The eight selected schools will receive a grant from Germany for the study visits of pupils and teachers of the German language to Germany, and for the technical equipment encouraging autonomous learning.

The details on the conditions of the bid and the contact for the application of schools can be found on the web page of the Goethe Institute in Zagreb.
